Born in 1948, grew up in Trenton, Moved to Calif in 1971 to work for the Church of Scientology. Met my first wife, Gale Carr, there in LA. Moved to Europe (Portugal and Copenhagen). My daughter Cathy (Catherine Nicole) was born in Copenhagen in 1974. Got divorced, moved back to Trenton in 1975. Met my second wife, Joan Barone (adopted by an italian family. Real parents Russian, Irish and probably some German in there somewhere). Got involved in the birth of the microcomputer industry. Moved to Calif. in 1975, lived in the Monterey area. Was hired by Epson America (big Japanese printer maker) in 1980 and moved to Los Angeles. Was their first American employee (Dir. Sales & Marketing). Spent quite a lot of time in Japan. Got rich and famous in computer industry. My own company (funded by Epson) collapsed (a book in there somewhere) and I suddenly became poor and obscure.... Second Daughter (first for Joan and I) Laurel Ann (Laurie) was born in 1980 in Carson, CA. First Son, Lars Christian (Lars) was born in 1981 in Palos Verdes Estates, CA. Youngest son, Weston Alexander (Wes) was born in 1984 in Palos Verdes Estates Calif. Stayed in Los Angeles through 1986. Moved back to Monterey area. Stayed there through 1990 working through the collapse of the company. Got divorced in 1990 after 12 years. Joan and the kids stayed in Salinas CA, I moved back to New Jersey again (beginning to notice a pattern here.... :-). Met Judy Hale (my partner - a very smart lady from the upper penninsula of michigan - never had kids) in 1991. After collapse of computer thing, decided to switch to bicycle industry. Did that in 1994. Relocated to California AGAIN. Spent 4 years in Los Osos, CA (near San Luis Obispo). Ended that job in September, 1998. Took job offer here in Eugene, OR, in March, 1999..
And here I am. My son Lars lives with Judy and I now. Wes and Laurie are with their mom in Salinas. Cathy is living in Northridge, CA. She is married to a nice guy named Don Wygal, also from Trenton, who is working on the production side of the film industry (60 hours a week for bad pay and a credit near the botom of those lists that scroll by....)
Would really like to have my own small company in the bike industry (making a new sort of tool I've invented), while doing consulting, copywriting, manuals, market research, etc.
Mom is quite ill. Just got diagnosed with 3rd stage lymphoma 7/25/99. Starts a round of heavy chemo 8/2/99. At 81, that's a real problem. She sold the old family home and moved to Jamesburg, NJ (exit 8a on the NJ turnpike) around February, 1999. Carol was married to Frank Imbornone for - don't know exactly - maybe 18 years. Got divorced in 1997. She had been living on Long Island. Moved back to New York City after the split. Never had kids. She is moving down from NY to be with mom just this week (beginning of August, 1999).
I always have this feeling that no matter what, I'll keep ending up back in Trenton.
